27/09/07: Fishing in the Quirimbas Archipelago
The Quirimbas Archipelago and St Lazarus Bank are fast becoming one of the most sought after fishing destinations in Africa. With 27 Islands scattered over a total distance of around 360km (200NM) from Pemba to the Tanzanian border, reefs, sandbanks, gullies, inter-tidal zones and deep drop-offs, it is obvious why the Quirimbas Archipelago is a fisherman’s dream destination. To top all that off, the much talked about St Lazarus Bank lies a mere 50NM East of Ilha Quisiva, rising from depths exceeding 2000m to offer some of the most spectacular game fishing and salt water fly fishing conditions in the Southern Hemisphere.
