27/09/07: Fishing in the Quirimbas Archipelago
The Quirimbas Archipelago and St Lazarus Bank are fast becoming one of the most sought after fishing destinations in Africa. With 27 Islands scattered over a total distance of around 360km (200NM) from Pemba to the Tanzanian border, reefs, sandbanks, gullies, inter-tidal zones and deep drop-offs, it is obvious why the Quirimbas Archipelago is a fisherman’s dream destination. To top all that off, the much talked about St Lazarus Bank lies a mere 50NM East of Ilha Quisiva, rising from depths exceeding 2000m to offer some of the most spectacular game fishing and salt water fly fishing conditions in the Southern Hemisphere.
Ilha Quisiva is very different from the stereotypical island concept and carries with it the rich connotations and flavor of an island lying close against the shore of the African mainland. Our brief to the architects for the design of a 48 bed fractional ownership resort on Ilha Quisiva presented a special and challenging canvass.
Ilha Quisiva is an exclusive private vacation experience in the Quirimbas Archipelago in Northern Mozambique.
The Quirimbas Archipelago and in particular the waters surrounding Ilha Quisiva offer some of the most prestine diving conditions in the world. There are hundreds of immaculate dive sites waiting to be explored.
